Third Cannabis Dispensary in Kailua-Kona Opening in August

Cannabis Legalization

In August, Big Island Grown will open its third medical marijuana dispensary in Kailua-Kona. The company received its notice to proceed from the Hawaii Department of Health on July 26. The dispensary will be next to Kona Brewing Co. in the Brewery Block retail center.

Big Island Grown will be opening the maximum number of medical marijuana retail centers permitted under Hawaii law, West Hawaii Today reports. Patients can expect to see a variety of strains of flower, several flavors or concentrates, lozenges, topicals and vape cartridges. The lozenges will be available in hard and soft form.

COO Dylan Shropshire said, “This created a geographical challenge for Hawaii Island patients to access cannabis medicine. Big Island Grown has been committed to improving access to cannabis medicine by opening the maximum allowable retail locations for the benefit of all patients on Big Island.”

The grand opening is scheduled for August 8, in celebration of “808 Day.” To commemorate the opening and the special day, there will be entertainment, refreshment and haku lei making at the dispensary.
