Hawaii Group Offering Free Medical Marijuana Evaluation for Veterans

Canna

Several marijuana organizations are coming together to offer 60 veterans free medical marijuana evaluations. The evaluation costs are paid as well as the $40 state fee.

Veterans are currently charged $60 for an evaluation at Malie Cannabis Clinic while other types of evaluations cost between $120 and $200, according to Honolulu Civil Beat. The medical director of Malie Cannabis Clinic, Me Fuimaono-Poe, estimates that roughly one-quarter of her patients are veterans. In Oahu, there is a large veteran population.

Fuimaono-Poe said, “It’s a big deal for our whole entire cannabis industry to be on the same page for an event.”

The groups sponsoring the free evaluation event are:

  • Complementary and Alternative Medicine on Oahu
  • Mended Minds Hawaii
  • Malie Cannabis Clinic
  • Aloha Green Apothecary
  • Noa Botanicals
  • Steep Hill Hawaii
  • Hawaii Dispensary Alliance

Veterans will still have to pay the required state fee, but the cost of the evaluation is waived for this special event.

The event is being held at the Honolulu Office Center from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on January 14. Tickets are free and can be obtained by visiting the event’s website.
